George Linde joins South Africa squad as cover for injured Markram

South Africa’s left-arm spin bowling allrounder George Linde will link up with South Africa squad at the ongoing Champions Trophy as a travelling reserve. He is joining the squad as cover for Aiden Markram, who injured his right hamstring during the England match. Markram walked off the field during South Africa’s match against England and remained on the sidelines throughtout the game. He wasn’t required to bat as South Africa had clinched a seven-wicket victory.
Markram will undergo a fitness test on Tuesday evening to determine his availability for the semi-final against New Zealand. Linde, meanwhile, will join South Africa squad on Tuesday evening but he will not officially replace Markram in the squad unless he is ruled out and the ICC's event technical committee approves Linde as Markram’s replacement.
