WPL 2025: UP Warriorz eye victory against Mumbai Indians to stay alive

In the 16th match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League, UP Warriorz will be clashing with Mumbai Indians on Thursday at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. UP Women are in dire need for a win to resuscitate their campaign after suffering two back-to-back defeats. Since their Super Over win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, UP Warriorz have struggled to register victories in their last two games.
They are sitting at the bottom in the points table with four defeats from their six games. They have four points along with the negative NRR of -0.786. This is a must-win battle for UP Warriorz to stay alive in the tournament. Another loss would push them to the brink of elimination.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are sitting on the third spot in the points table with three victories from five games. They have lost two games and carry six points along with a positive NRR of +0.166. MI are in a better position, but they would expect their top-order players to step up and help the side.
When the two sides met each other last month, in Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians had destroyed UP Warriorz by eight wickets. In that match, MI player Nat Sciver-Brunt had performed well, taking three wickets and smacking 75 runs unbeaten.
