India’s talented batter Shreyas Iyer endured a tumultuous 2024, facing many setbacks. Losing his central contract with BCCI marked a harsh blow to his career. Despite the setback, Iyer turned the disappointment of the contract loss into motivation, leading Kolkata Knight Riders to an exciting title victory in the IPL 2024. However, in the aftermath of his achievement, Iyer has expressed that his leadership didn’t receive the recognition it truly deserved.

“I personally felt I didn’t get the recognition I wanted after winning the IPL but at the end of the day, as long as you have self-integrity and you keep doing the right things when no one is watching, that is more important and that is what I kept doing,” Iyer told Times of India.

Iyer recently played an extremely important role in India’s victory at the Champions Trophy. He capped off Champions Trophy with 243 runs from 5 innings. Meanwhile, on the IPL front, Iyer is gearing up to lead Punjab Kings in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. He was bought by Punjab Kings for a gigantic INR 26.75 crore during the auctions last year after he was released by KKR. Iyer had a three-season journey with KKR.
