Kraigg Brathwaite steps down as West Indies Test captain; Shai Hope handed T20 captaincy

Kraigg Brathwaite has stepped down as Test captain of the West Indies after serving for three years in the role. Brathwaite steps down three months ahead of West Indiesโ€™ upcoming home assignment against Australia. During his tenure, Brathwaite led West Indies in 39 Tests, successfully winning ten games. 

He led the side to a home series win against England in 2022 and also led them to a Test win in Australia for the first time in 27 years in 2024. As per CWI, The new captain will be named soon. Meanwhile, West Indies will also have a new captain in T20Is, with Shai Hope taking over from Rovman Powell.
