A dazzling batting performance and clinical bowling saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru cruise to a 12-run victory over Mumbai Indians on Monday at Wankhede Stadium.

RCB delivered a commanding performance to claim a resounding victory despite MI skipper Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma unleashing a brutal counterattack in Mumbai’s chase of 221, cracking 42 and 56, respectively. The comprehensive win for RCB was made possible on the back of a sensational all-round display, with both bat and ball contributing to their commanding victory.

Earlier, asked to bat first, RCB made a statement, putting up an intimidating total of 221/5 in 20 overs. The foundation of this massive total was laid by explosive innings from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, who both scored 67 and 64, respectively. In addition to Kohli and Patidar’s knocks, Devduutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma played valuable cameos, adding 37 and 40 runs, respectively, to the total.

Meanwhile, RCB’s bowling unit responded in fine style, restricting MI to 209/9 in 20 overs. Despite Hardik Pandya smashing 42 runs off 15 balls and Tilak Varma blazing a half-century, MI fell short of 12 runs, with lower-order batters failing to live up to the expectations.
