In a highly skilful display of batting prowess, Hyderabad star Abhishek Sharma unleashed a whirlwind knock of 141 off just 55 balls to propel his side to a remarkable victory over Punjab Kings on Saturday in Hyderabad. Abhishek’s blistering century left everyone in awe as he single-handedly took control of the game, delivering one of the most powerful innings in IPL. With the victory, SRH also snapped a four-match losing streak in the ongoing IPL. After blazing his century, Abhishek celebrated it in a unique style as he pulled out a note from his pocket that read, 'This one is for Orange Army.
“To be honest, I wrote it today itself. because I usually wake up and write something. I got a random thought that if I do something today, that would be for Orange Army. Luckily, today I felt it was my day,” Abhishek said during the press conference.
His 141-run knock was not only his maiden IPL century but also one of the highest individual scores in the competition by an Indian batter. His onslaught included ten towering sixes and fourteen boundaries. Abhishek also revealed that he got calls from Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav when he was sick.
“I was sick for four days, I had a temperature. But I feel very grateful to have people like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav around me. They were the ones who were continuously calling me because they knew that I can do something like this."
“But still as an individual, any player starts doubting himself. But the thing that was with me was that it was pretty much clear that they believed in me. And when people like them believe in you, you obviously start believing again.”
