RR head coach provides big update on Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals’ head coach Rahul Dravid has provided a big update on Sanju Samson, who has been on the sidelines nursing an injury. Samson, who marked his absence in RR’s last match against Lucknow Super Giants, is also poised to miss the team’s upcoming clash against RCB on Thursday. Meanwhile, Samson is recovering from an abdominal injury that he picked up earlier this month during RR’s game against the Delhi Capitals.

"Sanju, I think, picked up a bit of a side issue in the game against Delhi (Capitals), and he couldn't play the last game (against LSG) or this one as well. He wasn’t fit, and our medical team did not rule him fit to play this game. So we took the decision not to risk his travel to Bengaluru.”

“I have no time-line to give as to when exactly he will be fit, but we’re trying our best, you know. Obviously, we’ve got to play here, after this we’ve got a game on (April) 27th and we’ve got a few games quickly and then we’ve got a gap," Dravid said.

So far, it has been a challenging season for Rajasthan Royals, having lost six of their last eight games. Meanwhile, in Sanju’s absence, Riyan Parag has been the stand-in skipper for the side.
