IPL 2025: SRH clinch five-wicket win over CSK

Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a tense encounter on Friday at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, successfully chasing down a target of 155 with just eight balls to spare. Despite a slow start to their chase, SRH kept their composure and eventually overcame CSK’s total, clinching their maiden victory against CSK at Chepauk.
Chasing 155, SRH’s opening partnership quickly faced setbacks. Both Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (19) fell cheaply, leaving the side in a difficult situation. However, Ishan Kishan played a valuable knock of 44 runs off 34 balls to steady the chase. His composed innings helped SRH recover from an early wobble and put them back in the hunt. Down the order, Kamindu Mendia and Nitish Reddy remained unbeaten on 32 and 19, respectively, to guide the side home.
Earlier in the day, it was the SRH’s bowlers who set the tone, bowling CSK out for a modest total of 154 runs in 19.5 overs. Harshal Patel bagged a four-wicket haul, while Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat took two wickets each. Meanwhile, Kamindu Mendis and Mohammed Shami took one wicket each. Dewald Brevis top-scored for CSK with a spirited knock of 42 runs off 25 balls, but he was unable to carry the innings through to a more competitive total. CSK had been put to bat by SRH skipper Pat Cummins after winning the toss.
