Former LSG player opens up about KL Rahul’s chat with Sanjiv Goenka

KL Rahul’s batting has been nothing short of sensational in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), turning heads with a series of eye-catching performances for Delhi Capitals. Since making the move from Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the current season, Rahul has been in destructive form at the top of the order. Before linking up with DC, KL Rahul had led Lucknow Super Giants for three seasons.

He captained the side to the playoffs in the first two seasons. However, LSG had a disappointing season last year, winning seven of fourteen games. Following LSG’s shoddy campaign, KL Rahul’s relationship with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka came under the scanner.

Things took a different turn when KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka were seen having an intense discussion following LSG’s 10-wicket defeat to SRH last year. Meanwhile, former LSG player Amit Mishra, talking about the animated chat between Rahul and Goenka, said that LSG owner Goenka is very friendly.

"I spoke to the coach last season, and he told me that KL Rahul is doing all the work. He is making the 11s, making all the changes, and planning. But this year, I don't feel like that. This year, when Zaheer Khan went, I felt like he is talking to everyone. If you see, there is a discussion going on, they are talking to each other," Mishra said on Cricbuzz.

"I feel that the media has shown off a little too much. I didn't feel that there was anything like that. But this time, I feel that the overall discussion is going on. It is not like that at all. I can say this because we were losing two matches very badly. We lost in Kolkata in an awful way. We lost the match in 11 overs. Then we went to Hyderabad, where we lost the match in 9 overs," he said.

"So, if there is any owner, he says that losing is okay, but just go out there and show some fight. Fight and lose, I have no problem. This is what people told me. This is what happened. But I feel that even after losing so badly, we lost two more matches. He came to the dressing room. The owner gives motivation to the team. He never said anything wrong or said anything in a very high tone," stated Mishra.

KL Rahul has so far scored 364 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 146.18 and an average of 60.66. He has also racked up three half-centuries.
