"It's a crime": Hardik Pandya’s take on MI’s defeat

Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the points table after beating Mumbai Indians by three wickets in a rain-interrupted game on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the thrilling game, interrupted by moving showers twice, Gujarat claimed a three-wicket victory via DLS, chasing a revised target of 147 for the loss of seven wickets.

Commenting on MI’s defeat, skipper Hardik Pandya rued the no balls that dwindled their momentum and contributed to MI’s defeat. Hardik, who was incredibly expensive, bowled two no-balls in the eighth over, going for 18. And Deepak Chahar, who was defending 15 off the last over, bowled a no-ball, allowing GT to prevail.

“Definitely, but I think we fought really well with the total we had. Most of the time we were out of the game. But as a group we kept pushing," Pandya said after the match.

"The catches didn't really cost us. We were very clinical with that. Maybe definitely with the no-balls, with my no-ball and even the last (over) no-ball."

"That, in my eyes, indeed it's a crime, and most often than not it kind of bites you. It definitely did to us, but at the same point of time, really happy with the boys giving their 120% and making sure that we were in the game and not giving up."

MI, who were sent to bat, struggled to put up an imposing total, with their top order failing to click and losing wickets in quick succession. However, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav dragged the team to 155/8, chipping in with 53 and 35, respectively.

"It was definitely not a 150 wicket. I think it was a 175. We were definitely short in batting by 20-25 runs or maybe 30 runs if you would have batted well. But I think credit to the bowlers, they kept fighting and they kept bowling at the right areas.
