Hardik Pandya and his Mumbai Indians teammates have been slapped with a fine after MI maintained a slow-over rate during their match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium. Gujarat Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra was also fined for behaviour “contrary to the spirit of the game”.

Hardik Pandya was fined INR 24 lakh, while the other members of the playing XI, including the impact player and concussion substitute, were fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was lesser.

"As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined Rs 24 lakh,” the IPL stated in a release.

"Ashish Nehra, Head Coach, Gujarat Titans, has been fined 25% of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which pertains to conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game - and accepted the match referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches, the match referee's decision is final and binding,” the release stated.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by three wickets (DLS) in a rain-interrupted clash on Tuesday in Mumbai.
