As India gear up for their highly anticipated five-match Test series against England, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is ready to showcase his skills in the longer format of the game. Rahul enters the series with a renewed focus and a deep appreciation for red-ball cricket. In preparation for the series, KL Rahul has emphasised his love for red-ball cricket.

“I love red ball cricket. I mean you can’t take that away from me or anyone who’s part of that Indian team. Everyone that I’ve spoken to on that Indian team, we’re all on the same page as to Test cricket is number one for us. We love playing Test cricket and, that hasn’t changed for me," Rahul said in a Sky Sports interview with Nasser Hussain.

KL Rahul also shared how he would wake up at 5 am to watch Test cricket in Australia.

“I grew up watching Test cricket. I grew up watching you guys play for England. I used to wake up at five in the morning and watch Test cricket in Australia with my father. He loved watching cricket as well," he said.

“So, there’s something about Test cricket that’s really pure and that’s something that’s stuck with me and I don’t think that’s going to change and yeah, I’m really looking forward to the Test summer, especially in England. It’s always a tour that we look forward to. It’s a lot of fun. It obviously will come with its own challenges, but I’ve been there a couple of times and yeah, I’ve enjoyed being there," he said.
