AB de Villiers backs Kohli to play a valuable role in IPL final
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has praised Virat Kohli for his unwavering determination and backed the RCB to clinch their first IPL title. De Villiers also backed Virat Kohli to play a massive role in the final and guide RCB to their maiden IPL title. His comments come as RCB have showcased exceptional performances this season.
RCB advanced to the IPL 2025 final with a remarkable eight-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on Thursday. They have been one of the standout teams this season, delivering dominant performances throughout the tournament.
"The first time I saw him on the screen for PBKS vs RCB game, was when he got out of the bus, and I just saw a lot of focus in that guy. That's the typical kind of body language we're so used to seeing,” De Villiers told JioHotstar.
"And what I love most about this is -- he didn't score runs today, but we still saw him right till the end, celebrating with the batters. The ultimate team man, and he looks very, very focused. Obviously, the job's not done yet, but I'm very excited to watch him play. I have no doubt in my mind he's going to play a big hand in the final," he added.
RCB have never won the IPL title since the inception of the tournament, despite reaching the finals on three occasions in the past. Meanwhile, IPL 2025 final will be held on June 3.
