Iyer shines as Punjab Kings storm into IPL 2025 final

Punjab Kings sealed their place in the IPL 2025 final in an emphatic fashion, defeating Mumbai Indians by five wickets in a nail-biting encounter in Ahmedabad. The victory was powered by an electrifying, unbeaten 87-run knock from skipper Shreyas Iyer, who anchored the chase of a formidable 204-run target with unwavering determination.
Chasing 204 to win, PBKS got off to a dismal start, losing both the openers early on. However, Iyer’s experience and class shone through as he guided his team home with an over to spare, finishing the chase in just 19 overs. His innings was the backbone of Punjab’s chase.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians, who were asked to bat, posted a strong total of 203/6 in 20 overs. The foundation was laid by solid knocks from Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, both scoring 44 runs each. Their composed knocks maintained momentum through the middle overs. Jonny Bairstow also played a vital role at the top, smashing a quick 38 to set the tone.
