Virat Kohli’s first reaction as stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium claims 11 lives

In a massive tragedy, a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory celebration on Wednesday resulted in the loss of 11 lives, as per reports, and many more injured. The incident occurred as thousands of loyal fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes following RCB’s maiden IPL title victory on Tuesday. RCB player and Indian veteran Virat Kohli expressed shock over the loss of lives.

"At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted," Virat Kohli wrote on Instagram. 

Former RCB player AB de Villiers also expressed his anguish.

"My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the tragic events at the Chinnaswamy stadium today."  

The event was conducted to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s first-ever IPL title win on Tuesday, ending an 18-year wait. As the celebrations unfolded, the situation outside the stadium began to spiral out of control, with thousands of fans, eager to see their heroes, gathered in tight spaces, leading to overcrowding and pushing.
