Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir flies back home following family emergency

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has flown back to India due to a family emergency. Gambhir’s departure comes ahead of the senior team’s warm-up game against India A starting Friday in Beckenham. As per reports, Gambhir has rushed back to India after his mother suffered a heart attack on June 11.
Meanwhile, India are set to take on England in a five-match Test series, which will get underway on June 20. The series will mark Shubman Gill’s first assignment as India’s new Test captain.
In Gambhir’s absence, support staff will take up the responsibilities. Gambhir’s support staff includes Sitanshu Kotak (batting coach), T Dilip (fielding coach), and Morne Morkel (bowling coach). Ryan Ten Doeschate serves as assistant coach.
