“It's only attitude”: Former Australian player slams India’s poor fielding

Former Australian player Brad Haddin has come down hard on Team India following their disappointing defeat in the first Test against England. Haddin highlighted India’s poor fielding—especially dropped catches—as the chief reason behind the loss. The defeat has raised eyebrows, with India’s lacklustre performance in the field becoming a focal point.
India, who were seen as favourites heading into the five-match Test series, suffered a crushing loss in the opening game as England took a 1-0 lead. Haddin pointed out specific instances where Indian fielders failed to capitalise on straightforward opportunities, allowing England to pile up runs.
"Every great team, no matter what year you're playing, the one stand out feature they've always had is that they've been a great fielding team. And I think that is one legacy Gill has start to leave now on this team. He needs an attitude adjustment. If you want to field well and compete the whole time, it's only attitude,” Haddin said on the LiSTNR Sport podcast.
“You can do all your technical work off the field and have as many coaches as anyone, but it won't matter. Even in the IPL this year, the catching was horrible. And that could be a byproduct," he said.
As the teams prepare for the second Test, set to be played from July 2 at Edgbaston, the pressure is squarely on India—not just to bounce back with bat and ball, but to shore up their fielding unit.
