News

South Africa and Zimbabwe are set to lock horns in the second and final Test, kicking off on Sunday, July 6, in Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club. South Africa hold a 1–0 lead and seek a clean series sweep, while Zimbabwe battle to salvage pride and square the series. South Africa claimed a 328-run win in the first Test against Zimbabwe after they cornered the latter in all departments.

Meanwhile, stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj, who led in the first Test, has been ruled out with a groin strain. Wiaan Mulder will lead the side in Maharaj’s absence. Senuran Muthusamy has joined the South African lineup, replacing Maharaj. Zimbabwe, who lost the first Test heavily, will have pressure to respond strongly in the second Test.

Standout Sean Williams (137 in the first Test) and captain Craig Ervine must find form. Openers Brian Bennett and Takudzwanashe Kaitano would be expected to give the side a rollicking start. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, have an opportunity to fight on home soil as they look to resist pressure early and build partnerships.
