Karun Nair applauds Pant’s valiant knock in Manchester Test

Indian batter Karun Nair has lauded wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for his extraordinary grit and determination during the fourth Test between India and England in Manchester. Pant suffered a painful foot injury on day one of the match after being struck on the right foot by a delivery from England pacer Chris Woakes while attempting a reverse sweep.
However, he returned to the crease on day two to make a meaningful contribution to India's innings. Pant, demonstrating a great resolve, resumed his innings on day two and produced a crucial 54 runs. His gutsy knock included three fours and two sixes.
"I think Rishabh has set a very high standard of what we are supposed to be doing as players. In the fourth Test match, he went out to bat with a broken foot and scored a 50. He inspired so many of us in the dressing room and showed the kind of player and person he is by putting the team first," Karun Nair said while speaking to Revsportz.
Rishabh Pant played the first four matches in the series, scoring 479 runs at a strike rate of 77.63 and an average of 68.43. He had been ruled out of the fifth and final Test due to the injury. Meanwhile, the five-match series between India and England ended in a draw.
