Rahul Dravid parts ways with Rajasthan Royals
Rahul Dravid has parted ways with the Rajasthan Royals after just one season as head coach. The latest development comes as a shock, given Dravid's deep experience and his high-profile tenure as head coach of the Indian national team. In a statement, the franchise revealed that Dravid was offered a broader role within the organisation, but he chose not to take it up.
"Rahul has been central to the Royals' journey over many years. His leadership has influenced a generation of players, built strong values within the squad, and left an indelible mark on the culture of the franchise," the release stated.
"As part of the franchise structural review Rahul had been offered a broader position at the franchise, but has chosen not to take this. The Rajasthan Royals, its players, and millions of fans worldwide extend heartfelt thanks to Rahul for his remarkable service to the franchise."
Dravid's association with the Royals goes back a long way. He first joined the franchise as a player in 2011. Later he captained the side for two seasons in 2012 and 2013. After that, he served as team mentor until 2015. Meanwhile, for Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2025 ended in huge disappointment, finishing ninth in the points table with only four wins in 14 games.
