The prize money for the upcoming Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 has been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). A massive 297% increase from $3.5 million awarded at the last edition held in New Zealand in 2022 has been confirmed by the ICC. Now, the overall prize money is set at $13.88 million, with the winning team set to receive USD 4.48 million. The runner-up in the eight-team event will receive Rs 2.24 million. Even the total prize for the tournament is whoppingly higher than that at the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup. To put it simply, the total surpasses the $10 million allocated for the 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup.

“This announcement marks a defining milestone in the journey of women’s cricket. This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment for women’s cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term growth," ICC Chairman Jay Shah said.

"Our message is simple, women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally."

"The uplift underscores our ambition to deliver a world-class ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and to inspire the next generation of players and fans. Women’s cricket is on a remarkable upward trajectory, and with this step, we are confident the momentum will accelerate," he stated.

The highly anticipated tournament, which is set to be played in India and Sri Lanka, will begin on 30 September and conclude on 2 November. The eight-team tournament will involve defending champions Australia, India, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and Bangladesh.
