Staging a sensational comeback, England overcame South Africa in the third and final ODI on Sunday at The Ageas Bowl, beating the Proteas by 342 runs to complete the biggest win in ODI history. The victory was built around Joe Root's and Jacob Bethell's centuries, both of whom took the side to a tremendous total of 414/5 in 50 overs. Sent in to bat, England started off brilliantly, with Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett slamming 62 and 32, respectively.

After their departure, Jacob Bethell and Joe Root took control of the innings, plundering 110 off 82 balls and 100 from 96 deliveries to power the side to a big total. Jos Buttler also racked up a monstrous 62 from 32 balls to make his contribution. Defending the total, England bowled South Africa out for 72, with Jofra Archer tearing through the Proteas' formidable batting lineup. He claimed the figures of 4-18 as England raced to an impressive win.

Adil Rashid and Brandon Carse aided Archer effectively, taking three and two wickets, respectively. Root, meanwhile, with his 19th century in ODIs, equalled Babar Azam, Brian Larar and Mahela Jayawardene's record of having 19 hundreds in ODIs.
