Australia have been dealt a fresh injury setback, with all-rounder Cameron Green ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against India. The 26-year-old has been sidelined due to low-grade soreness in his side, raising concerns for his availability in the highly anticipated Ashes.

In Green’s absence in-form batter Marnus Labuschagne has been called up as his replacement. The middle-order batter is set to join the national squad in Perth ahead of the first ODI on Sunday. Labuschagne will depart Adelaide following the conclusion of his Sheffield Shield fixture on Saturday night.

"Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," CA said in a statement.

Labuschagne, who was earlier left out of the squad for ODIs against India, returns to the ODI setup on the back of supreme form following his four centuries for his domestic side, Queensland.

Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Owen, Josh Philippe, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Mitchell Starc
