Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli turns 37 today, and the legend continues to impress his fans with his fighting spirit and unflinching tenacity. Ever since the batting legend burst onto the international stage with his fearless attitude, Kohli has been a cornerstone of Indian cricket. More importantly, Kohli has transcended the sport, becoming not just one of India’s finest batters but also an emblem of unwavering discipline and consistency. His career has been defined by relentless determination and a burning desire to be the best.

From being part of India’s U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2008 to leading the senior side across formats, Kohli’s journey has been an inspiration to all. With over 25,000 international runs and 70-plus centuries, Kohli’s numbers speak for themselves. Over the years, Kohli has been known for his hunger to win, to improve, and to dominate that ultimately sets him apart.

During his career, Kohli has played some memorable knocks and accomplished spectacular milestones. He holds the record for most ODI centuries (51 hundreds), surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. He is also the only Indian batter to hammer seven double centuries in Test cricket. Kohli also became the fastest batter to reach 10,000 ODI runs, neutralising the record in 205 innings. Notably, Virat’s 183 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup remains one of his most amazing knocks. He had helped India overhaul 329 and seal a six-wicket win.

Now, having announced his retirement from Tests and T20Is, Kohli’s focus has turned toward ODIs, looking to represent India at the 2027 ODI World Cup. Recently, he made a splendid return to the ODIs, playing a breathtaking unbeaten 71 in the final ODI against Australia to guide India home in a thrilling run chase. And that was amazingly impressive, serving as a timely reminder that even in the twilight of his career, the evergreen batter remains a match-winner. As Kohli celebrates his 37th birthday, it is once again a moment to look back at an illustrious career filled with courage, perseverance and greatness.
