About Dane Paterson
A sturdy right-arm medium pacer from Cape Town, Paterson is considered to be amongst the South African fringes and has been awarded with a handful of caps - in the 50-over and 20-over version of the game. A busty bowler, clever variations in line and length, has been Paterson's biggest asset.
A product of South Africa academy, Paterson honed his skills with Western Province, the Newlands based state team, Paterson has been a regular with the Cape Cobras franchise, across all formats of the game. Having made his first-class debut for Western Province, during the 2009-10 season, Paterson's strength is his accuracy which he mixes with cunning variations. It is this ability of his that kept the national selectors interested and he eventually made his Twenty20 international debut, against the visiting Sri Lankans, in Capetown, January 2017.
