About Erin Burns

A free-stroking batsman who is also an effective off-spinner, Erin Burns is a utility player to have in shorter formats, especially T20s. She has been around for a really long time in Australian cricket but is yet to get a chance at the highest level. A native of New South Wales, Burns had to shift base due to strong competition and it was in Tasmania that she managed to pull through with 2009 being the breakthrough year. The 2009-10 season saw her win the prestigious Tasmanian Roar Player of the Year Award and even got picked in the national squad but didn't get any games. Burns continued to impress in domestic competitions, especially in T20s where she appeared a real asset. She has been one of the major cogs of the Hobart Hurricanes outfit in the Women's Big Bash. She has also played domestic cricket in the Trans-Tasman neighbourhood, having represented Wellington Women. Apart from being a cricketer, Burns is highly qualified in terms of education. She has a degree in Exercise Science and a Masters in physiotherapy. She also loves cycling, a hobby she took up during recovery from a serious knee injury.
