Sourav Ganguly names his India's ODI World Cup squad
The upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in India is going to be hugely significant event with ten teams coming together to take on each other in the race to bag the Title. India are the host of the massive event as they will be having upper-edge on their home turf. Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly named his India squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Striking exclusions from Ganguly’s squad came in the form of Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna as the trio have already been incorporated into India’s Asia Cup squad. But, Ganguly added the duo of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul who both recently made their return to the team after recovering from their respective injuries.
Sourav Ganguly, in his squad, went with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav as batsmen. In the wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul were added. Three all-rounders in the form of Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. One spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Four pacers, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur.
Ganguly also included three replacements in case of any player is ruled out due to any reason.
“If one of the middle-order batters gets unfit, then Tilak Varma. If one of the fast bowlers gets unfit, then Prasidh Krishna. If one of the spinners gets unfit, then Yuzvendra Chahal,” Ganguly told Star Sports.
