Sri Lankan legend's huge praise for young Dunith Wellalage

Sri Lanka’s young spinner Dunith Wellalage made a powerful impression with his superbly incredible bowling attack in the match against India in the ongoing Asia Cup on Tuesday at R. Premadasa Stadium. Dunith Wellalage ripped through India’s solid top order batters while claiming the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. It was a hugely impressive bowling performance put up by Wellalage. He picked up his maiden fifer in the International cricket as he returned with five wickets after giving away (40) runs from his (10) overs. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s legendary cricketer Lasith Malinga was quite impressed with the powerful performance delivered by Wellalage.
“It’s fair to say that SL played with 12 players today. That’s how good Dunith was. He’s got a brilliant head on his young shoulders to go with his all-round skill set,” wrote Malinga on his social media account.
“I believe he’s on his way to becoming the most important player for SL in ODIs for the next decade,” wrote Malinga.
Sri Lanka, however, lost the match by (41) runs but their performance was incredibly wonderful in the bowling department. Their top order line up failed to get going which resulted in Lanka’s defeat. But, Wellalage was also superb in batting department as well with his (42) runs unbeaten.
