England and Ireland are set to lock horns against each other in the three-match ODI series scheduled to commence from September 20. Both teams will meet in the first ODI on Wednesday at Headingley, Leeds. Joe Root was recently added to England’s squad for the first ODI against Ireland at his own request. Joe Root’s performance in the ODI series against New Zealand wasn’t upto the standards as he didn’t produce any fruitful innings. Joe Root will look forward to enhancing his ODI performance ahead of the World Cup. England are not playing their any player featuring into the ODI World Cup squad except Joe Root. England will be led by Zak Crawley in this series in the presence of Ben Duckett, Sam Hain and Will Jacks.

Ireland, on the other hand, recently played T20I series against India where they suffered huge defeat. Going into this series, Ireland would hope to do better despite not having qualified for the ODI World Cup. Paul Stirling will be leading Ireland in the presence of top-quality players like Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector and Andy McBrine. Ireland have been facing disappointment after loss against India as they hope to do well in this series.
