Sri Lanka give update on Hasaranga's injury
Sri Lanka are exploring all ways to get their terrific all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga fit ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 which is set to commence in India from October 5. Hasaranga had sustained hamstring injury in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL). Hasaranga had picked up injury in the last stage of the tournament which suddenly gave a big setback to the Sri Lanka. Following the injury, Hasaranga had missed the entire Asia Cup tournament. Proving the update on Hasaranga’s injury, Sri Lanka medical panel chief Arjuna de Silva noted that it is highly unlikely for Hasaranga to be in the World Cup, however they are trying everything to get him fit for the mega event.
“We are consulting foreign doctors to see whether he needs surgery or not. If he does, he will be out for at least three months. At the moment, the situation is not that great and it’s highly unlikely if he can play the World Cup,” Sri Lanka medical panel head Arjuna de Silva told The Sunday Times newspaper.
“Since he is a key weapon in our attack, we are looking at other options to see how best we can get his services at least for important games. All that depends on the opinions of the consultant to whom we are trying to show his reports,” HE SAID.
