India bundle out Australia for (199), spinners shine

News

Indian spinners’ collective efforts put the team back into the game on Sunday at MA Chidamabaram Stadium in their first World Cup match against Australia. Australia started well after winning the toss but Indian players were brilliant in all departments as they restricted Australia from capitalising on any opportunity. Earlier, Indian spinners did not get much of a help as David Warner and Steve Smith built a much-needed partnership to keep Australia on top. But, once, Kuldeep Yadav struck to send David Warner, which was also a breakthrough for India, Australia lost the momentum. Later, Jadeja struck to send Smith that put Australia under a lot of pressure. Australia tried to get runs but their frequent wickets kept them away from getting runs. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets while Kuldeep Yadav and jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each. R Ashwin and Hardik Pandya returned with one-wicket each as Australia were bowled out for 199.
