Matthew Wade to lead Australia in the T20I series against India
Australia have named their squad for the T20I series against India which will be played a few days after the completion of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The series will consist of five T20I games that will start from 23rd November with the first match in Visakhapatnam. Wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade will be leading the team Australia as regular skipper Pat Cummins will be heading home upon the completion of the World Cup. Australia will be having the presence of Steve Smith, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell among other experienced players.
“Matthew has captained the team previously, is a leader in the group and we look forward to him taking the reins for this series. Like Mitch Marsh in the South Africa series, this is another great opportunity to further deepen our international leadership experience and depth,” Australian chief selector George Bailey said.
“It’s always a great challenge to take on India on their home soil. Most of the squad have extensive experience in playing in India, including eight members of the current ODI World Cup squad, alongside Tanveer Sangha who is currently a travelling reserve,” he said.
