R Ashwin congratulates Suryakumar Yadav on his new role as captain
Indian veteran Ravichandaran Ashwin was incredibly thrilled after batter Suryakumar Yadav was named the captain to lead India in the five-match T20I series against Australia beginning Thursday (November 23). Yadav will be leading India in the absence of Hardik Pandya who has been recovering from an ankle injury which he picked up during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh. In recent times, Hardik Pandya has led India in the shorter format of the game. Suryakumar Yadav will be captaining India’s young-looking squad with mostly new faces being included. R Ashwin congratulated Suryakumar on his new role as the skipper of the team.
“Congrats @surya_14kumar. Go well buddy. Honour to lead the country,” Ashwin wrote on Instagram.
India will take on Australia on Thursday in the first T20I in Visakhapatnam. Suryakumar Yadav will have a huge role to play to lead India’s young talent. India will have the absence of senior players like, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami who all have been rested following the recently concluded ODI World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav will also be aware of the fact that T20I World Cup is not far and he would hope to do better in this pivotal role.
