Prasidh Krishna heaps praise on Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy
Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has related Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy to that of his batting style. India’s stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav has been successful in proving his leadership abilities after he led India to their back-to-back victories in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia. India registered their second win on Sunday after beating Australia by 44 runs. Prasidh Krishna returned with three wickets in the game as Australia were restricted to 191/9 in 20 overs in their chase of a huge 235-run total. Yadav was handed India’s T20I reins in the absence of senior players who recently played the ODI World Cup. India are leading the five-match T20I series 2-0 after beating Australia in the first two games. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav is one of the best T20I batters as he is making mark in the ongoing series.
“I think it shows in the way he (Suryakumar) bats is very similar in his captaincy as well,” Krishna said as quoted by the ICC.
“He trusts his players, backs all of us to do what we want to do and he’s there right behind us to support if there’s anything going wrong.
“That’s been the name of the game and then that’s the word around freedom, go and execute your plans out there and everyone trusts each other in the team."
In the second game, team India had accumulated a huge total after they were handed a brilliant start by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad with their (53) and (58) runs respectively. Ishan Kishan also impressed with his 52-run knock. Suryakumar Yadav, however, could only manage to get 19 runs. But, Rinku Singh exhibited his attacking batting style with his 9-ball 31 runs. Defending the total, it was a bit difficult for Indian bowlers to bowl in the dew conditions but Krishna noted that being part of the World Cup squad helped him adjust to the conditions like this.
“Being a part of the World Cup squad was massive learning for me. That’s the biggest learning curve I’ve had since I’ve been a part of the team,” Krishna said.
