NZ-W vs PAK-W 1st ODI: Suzie Bates’ (108) powers New Zealand to a huge win
Suzie Bates’s marvellous knock of (108) powered New Zealand Women to a 131-run win over Pakistan Women in the first ODI match on Tuesday at Queenstown Events Centre. Not only Suzie Bates but Bernadine Bezuidenhout and Amelia Kerr too stepped up their efforts with their knocks of (86) and (83) respectively to guide the team to a vast total. Put into bat, New Zealand Women recorded exhilarating batting performances from their top-order batters who propelled the side to (365/4) in (50). Skipper Sophie Devine too made a huge contribution with her 70-run innings. Chasing the total, Pakistan Women were bowled out for (234) in (49.5) overs. Pakistan Women got off to a good start with openers Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen hammering (44) and (105) respectively. In the lower and middle order, Pakistan Women failed to get the services of their players after they lost their wickets at regular intervals. With this win, New Zealand Women have got 1-0 lead in the three-match series as they would look to continue with the same enthusiasm and performance in the next game as well.
