BBL 2023-24: Melbourne Stars continue to suffer, lose to Perth Scorchers

Suffering their second defeat in the ongoing Big Bash League tournament, Melbourne Stars were beaten by Perth Scorchers by seven wickets on Wednesday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Put into bat, Melbourne Stars were bowled out for (101) with Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff claiming three wickets. Jhye Richardson and Hamish McKenzie took two wickets each to wrap up Stars’ innings. For Melbourne Stars, Tom Rogers, Hilton Cartwright and Liam Dawson top-scored with their knocks of (22), (24) and (22) respectively to take the side to a valuable total. Chasing the target, Perth Scorchers were quick to respond with their collective efforts to win the game in (13.5) overs. Openers Stephen Eskinazi and Cooper Connolly gave a solid start to the team with their scores of (25) and (20) respectively. In the middle, Aaron Hardie scored (20) runs while Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner remained unbeaten on (17) and (19) to take the team over the line.
