Starc's return to the IPL
In a huge turn of events at the IPL Auction 2024, Australia’s sensational pacer Mitchell Starc emerged as the most expensive player, creating waves of excitement in the world of cricket. The bidding war for Starc showcased the perennial demand for the high-quality fast bowler across all formats of the game. Kolkata Knight Riders prevailed in the massive bidding war to secure the services of Mitchell Stars, who currently is committed to national duties in their Test series against Pakistan. Starc was bought for Rs 24.75 crore by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Mitchell Starc overtook his teammate Pat Cummins who had been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.5 crore during the same auction. Largely, Mitchell Starc has preferred his availability for the national team over league games. But, this time, Starc put his name into the IPL auction that saw an intense bidding war among franchises to get him. For last eight seasons, Mitchell Starc skipped the high-profile and cash-rich Indian Premier League to majorly focus on his Test career. Mitchell Starc was last seen at IPL in 2018, but an injury saw him miss the entire season of the tournament.
In his IPL career so far, Mitchell Starc has played two seasons where he played with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Now that, he’s been secured by KKR he will look forward to showcasing his bowling acumen at the IPL 2024. Mitchell Starc’s outstanding class with the ball makes him one of the standout bowlers in the modern cricket. Starc has the perpetual ability to clock the ball as per the situation demands. He has the ability to bowl over the speed of 150 km/h. Undoubtedly, he has led Australia’s pace attack in all formats of the game at international level, playing his crucial role in each outing. There is a raging force in Australia’s bowling attack with the availability of Mitchell Starc that makes him an invaluable asset for any team seeking to bolster its bowling arsenal. And now, for KKR, Starc's addition to their squad not only boosts the team's bowling attack but also injects a sense of intimidation and fear into opposing batsmen. His ability to deliver yorkers at any time, swing the ball both ways, and unleash deadly bouncers provides them with a fierce and massive bowling option.
