SL vs ZIM 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka look to extend momentum
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will meet each other in the second ODI match on Monday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Their first ODI game had been hit by rain that ended in no result. In the first game, Sri Lanka had completed their innings after being asked to bat. Lanka scored 273/9 in 50 overs with the help of a marvellous century coming in from Charith Asalanka. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama contributed with their scores of (46) and (41) respectively. The game had been abandoned four overs into second innings.
Heading into the 2nd game, both teams would hope for complete action and no further disruption from weather. The match will be important for both teams from the series’ point of view. It will be important for both teams to gain early access into the series to stand the chance of winning the series. The team winning the first game will take the early lead of 1-0, making it absolutely competitive for other team to win the second to level it 1-1.
However, in the first match, both teams had produced competitive performances. Zimbabwe’s bowling attack was impressive with all of their bowlers keeping the proceedings tight for Sri Lanka.
