SL vs ZIM 3rd ODI: Hasaranga returns with 7 scalps to help SL win the series 2-0
The third and final ODI between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe marked by rain interruptions, witnessed a thrilling game of cricket where Sri Lanka emerged victorious by beating Zimbabwe by 8 wickets (DLS) on Thursday at R. Premadasa Stadium. Hasaranga starred in Sri Lanka’s thrilling victory with his seven wickets. With the win, Sri Lanka secured a 2-0 series triumph.
The match, which took place at a rain-soaked venue, saw Zimbabwe being skittled for 96 with all of their batters losing their wickets at regular intervals. Hasaranga led a commendable bowling attack with his career-best figures of 7 for 19. The third ODI unfolded with the threat of rain looming large, prompting a reduction in the scheduled 50 over game. Due to rain, per side was handed 27 overs each.
Zimbabwe had decided to bat after winning the toss, but they failed to pick up the momentum from the very beginning with Hasarnaga standing firm to stop the flow of runs with his incredible bowling. Chasing the total, Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis rose to the occasion by knocking off 66 runs to take the team over the line.
