Shivam Dube credits MS Dhoni for transformation in his game
Shivam Dube remained the star of the show for India in the first T20I match on Thursday at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Dube standing firm guided India to an encouaging six-wicket win to help them carry 1-0 lead in the series. Flawless dube’s show with both bat and ball remained on full display. Speaking on his wonderful 60-run score off 40, Shivam Dube credited former Indian cricketer and current CSK skipper MS Dhoni for the amount of transformation he has brought in his game.
Shivam Dube had been included into India’s T20I squad for the Australia series after the World Cup, but had to bide his time as he didn’t get the opportunity to be in the XI. Now that, he was given chance for India’s assignment against Afghanistan, he made the good use of that while blasting out with the bat.
“When I came to bat, I wanted to implement what I have learnt from MS Dhoni about finishing games. I keep speaking to Mahi Bhai. He tells me about how to tackle different situations . He has given me two-three tips and rated my batting,” Shivam Dube told JioCinema.
Dube also drew similarities between MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma as to how they allow him to bat up in the order and express himself.
“Both allow me to bat higher in the order. There’s a lot of work to be done and I know they will back me and want me to do well. So, that makes me feel a lot more positive," he said.
