SL vs ZIM 2nd T20I: Zimbabwe down Sri Lanka to remain alive in the series

In a nail-biting encounter, Zimbabwe registered a crucial win against Sri Lanka by beating them by 4 wickets in the second T20 International on Tuesday at R. Premadasa Stadium, securing hopes of claiming the three-match series. Zimbabwe batter Craig Ervine again came to the rescue of the team, displaying resilience and determination with his 70-run score to help the side level the series.
Chasing the total of 173, Zimbabwe remained on top of the chase with Craig Ervin standing firm to ensure teams’ win. Brian Bennet made handy contribution of 25 to help the skipper from other end. Zimbabwe successfully scored 178 in 19.5 overs after losing 6 wickets.
Earlier, asked to bat, Sri Lanka lost their top three batters in quick succession Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera losing their wickets for (1), (4) and (0) respectively. However, Sri Lanka found the momentum to move towards a fighting total with the pivotal help coming in from Charith Asalanka and veteran Angelo Mathews hammering (69) and (66*) respectively.
Zimbabwean, led by Sikandar Raza, executed disciplined strategies, managing to pick up wickets at crucial intervals. Bowlers exploited the pitch conditions very well, putting pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen. The seamers and spinners led a resolute attack making the scoring difficult for the Sri Lanka.
