Shoaib Bashir claimed four wickets while Tom Hartley returned with two wickets to bring the tensions for India. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill remained the top-scorers for India with their scores of (73) and (38) respectively.

For England, Joe Root stepped up, rescuing the team from a massive turmoil after they lost their tor-order batters in a quick succession. Root scored (122) unbeaten to put England into dominance. An indispensable 58-run knock from Ollie Robinson came as a big relief for England as they rocked to (353) in their first innings.
