Charith Asalanka will be serving as the acting captain to lead Sri Lanka in the first two T20I matches against Bangladesh on their upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Regular skipper Wanindu Hasaranga is set to remain out of two T20Is after being banned by the ICC for two games for breaching the ICC code of conduct.

This will be for the first time that Asalanka will be leading Sri Lanka. The incident with Wanindu Hasaranga took place during Sri Lanka’s third T20I match against Afghanistan in Dambulla, where Hasaranga approached the umpire expressing his disappointment for not calling a high full toss a no-ball.

Following the incident, Hasaranga was handed three demerit points and a fifty percent fine of match fee. Talking about the squad, Sri Lanka have a full-strength squad with the likes of Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews and Maheesh Theekshana among others. The first T20I between both teams will be played on March (4) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka T20I Squad: Wanindu Hasaranga (c), Charith Asalanka (vc), Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Janith Perera, Dilshan Madushanka, Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Akila Dananjaya, Binura Fernando, Kamindu Mendis, Avishka Fernando, Jeffrey Vandersay
