R Ashwin, Jonny Bairstow set to play their 100th Test match

The fifth and final Test match between India and England, scheduled to be played from Wednesday (March 7) in Dharamshala, will be marking a significant milestone for Indian veteran Ravichandaran Ashwin and England batter Jonny Bairstow as both of whom are set to make their 100th Test appearances.
This is an enormous moment for Ravichandaran Ashwin, having contributed immensely to India’s success in the longest format of the game. Recently, R Ashwin also recorded a historical record during the ongoing series when he became the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to have collected 500 Test wickets.
This accomplishment for both players will mark the second occasion when players from two opposing sides come to play their 100th Test match. This will also mark the fourth such moment when two players together play their 100th Test match. The first occasion when it happened was in 2000, with former England skipper Michael Atherton and Alec Stewart playing against West Indies at Old Trafford.
The second occasion was when former South African cricketers Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock and Stephen Fleming played their 100th Test match together during South Africa vs New Zealand game in 2006 in Centurion. The third occasion saw former England batter Alastair Cook and Australia's Michael Clarke playing their 100th Test game during England and Australia Ashes series in 2013 in Perth.
