Peshawar Zalmi seal Playoff spot with dominant win over Quetta Gladiators

In the 25th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi showcased their dominance, defeating Quetta Gladiators by a commanding (76) runs on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. With the victory, Peshawar Zalmi sealed their spot in the playoffs, underlining their status as a powerful contender for the title.
Asked to bat, Peshawar Zalmi put up a formidable total of (196) runs for the loss of eight wickets in (20) overs. Zalmi were served with stellar performances from their batsmen. Openers Saim Ayub and Babar Azam set the tone with their blistering innings of (30) and (53) respectively.
Down the order, Tom Kohler-Cadmore (33) and Rovman Powell (28*) played smashing innings, taking the team to the total of (196). Despite Gladiators’ Akeal Hosein taking a hat-trick, Gladiators couldn’t keep the momentum going. He returned with the figures of 4 for 23.
Chasing a challenging target of 197 runs, Quetta Gladiators faltered right from the beginning, with openers Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel not providing much of help. Zalmi's bowlers came out all guns blazing, putting the Gladiators under immense pressure with disciplined bowling. Saim Ayub, Look Wood, Khurram Shahzad and Mehram Mumtaz chipped in with two wickets each to bowl out Gladiators for (120) in (17.5) overs.
