Rishabh Pant opens up on his comeback ahead of IPL
India’s fierce wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to return to action for the first time since the fiery car accident in which he suffered multiple injuries, leading to his absence from international cricket. On his road to recovery, Rishabh Pant put in a lot of hard work, undergoing intensive rehabilitation to make himself available to play.
On Tuesday, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared Pant fit to play. After fourteen months, Rishabh Pant will get back to action. Returning to action, Pant feels he is going to make his debut again.
"I'm excited and nervous at the same time. It feels like I'm going to make my debut again," Pant said in a release by Delhi Capitals.
During his recovery period, Pant underwent rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA). Pant will be back to lead Delhi Capitals, with David Warner performing the duty last season in his absence.
"To be able to play cricket again after everything I've been through is nothing short of a miracle. I’m grateful to all my well-wishers and fans, and most importantly, the BCCI and staff at NCA. All their love and support continue to give me immense strength,” said Pant.
"I'm excited to return to Delhi Capitals & the IPL - a tournament I enjoy so much. Our team owners and support staff have been by my side throughout with their full support, guidance and co-operation at every step, for which I am deeply grateful. I can't wait to reunite with my DC family and play in front of the fans again."
