Hundred draft: Smriti Mandhana goes high, Harmanpreet, Babar Azam, Mohd. Rizwan find no buyer
Riding high on the success of her team (RCB) at the recently concluded Women’s Premier League, Smiriti Mandhana was snapped by Southern Brave, while her teammate at RCB Richa Ghosh was picked by Birmingham Phoenix. Both players remained the only two Indians picked up in the hundred draft. Harmanpreet Kaur didn’t find any buyer.
Australian Women went big with Beth Mooney (Manchester Originals), Meg Lanning (London Spirit) being picked at second and third selection. Other Australians to be picked were Ashleigh Gardner (Trent Rockets), Annabel Sutherland (Northern Superchargers) and Jess Jonassen (Welsh Fire)
On men’s draft, West Indies’ power-hitters remained the dominant force with Nicholas Pooran (Northern Superchargers) being the first to be signed. Other power-hitters from West Indies included Rovman Powell (Trent Rockets), Andre Russell (London Spirit), Shimron Hetmyer (London Spirit) and Kieron Pollard (Southern Brave). Few renowned players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Jason Roy couldn’t find a buyer. Several notable Aussies, David Warner, Matthew Wade, Josh Inglis and Tim David weren’t picked.
