IPL 2024, GT vs PBKS: Shashank Singh demonstrates his worth, guides PBKS to a thrilling win

Punjab Kings had minor chances of chasing down a big total put up by Gujarat Titans, but PBKS's Shashank Singh capitalised on the landed chance, playing a match-winning knock of (61) unbeaten, and powering the Kings to a thrilling 3-wicket win over Gujarat Titans on Thursday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a total of (199), Punjab Kings lost their four wickets in quick succession as Shashank Singh came to the crease with Punjab Kings at 4-70. He remained defiant, despite continuous pressure from Gujarat Titans, knocking off a composed innings that included six boundaries and four sixes.
Earlier, inserted to bat, Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill notched up an outstanding knock of (89) unbeaten, driving his team to an imposing total. Opener Wriddhiman Saha couldn’t make an impact. Meanwhile, explosive Rahul Tewatia struck (23) off (8) that provided a solid support down the order.
In the middle-order, Sai Sudharsan and Kane Williamson scored (33) and (26) respectively. Gill looked at his best, launching the top-class bowlers for massive boundaries. His jaw-dropping sixes set the tone for GT’s success, but PBKS batters couldn’t be contained by GT bowlers.
