Travis Head signs with Washington Freedom

News

Australian batter Travis Head has joined Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket as he is slated to link up with his Australian teammate Steve Smith, who last week became a part of Washington Freedom after being signed by the franchise.

After the conclusion of T20I World Cup 2024, Head will connect with Steve Smith and coach Ricky Ponting to play in the second season of the Major League Cricket that is scheduled to begin on July 4. Head is certain to play for Australia at the T20I World Cup, while Smith’s participation hangs in balance as he is also not playing the ongoing IPL.

Currently, Travis Head is making himself available at the ongoing Indian Premier League, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad who are being captained by Pat Cummins. Head has preferred not to prioritise rest after the T20I World Cup, as Australia have no International commitments till September, instead he will play Major League Cricket alongside Steve Smith.

New Zealand’s young talent Rachin Ravindra will also be seen playing for Washington Freedom this season. Marco Jansen and Akeal Hossein were also retained by the franchise in two other overseas players.
