No end to misery for RCB as Travis Head’s ton powers SRH to victory
Blasting his maiden IPL hundred, ever dangerous Travis Head launched Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 25-run win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. SRH skipper Pat Cummins, though little expensive, returned with three wickets to make his contribution with ball. Head’s (102) off (39) was the cornerstone of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s humongous total of 287-3, shattering their own IPL record of 277-3 created earlier this season.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, getting off to a blazing start, with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scoring (42) and (62) respectively, suffered slump in their smooth scoring, with middle-order batters losing their wickets one after another. Will Jacks (7), Rajat Patidar (9) and Saurav Chauhan (0) lost their wickets in quick succession.
However, RCB made a dramatic recovery after in-form Dinesh Karthik hit (83) off (35), keeping the game alive for the team. But, the target was too much to chase. Impact player Anuj Rawat, alongside Karthik, was unbeaten on (25) off (14), leading RCB to finish on 262/7 in (20). This is the fifth straight defeat for RCB.
